Bobby Cruz.

About

Bobby’s paintings are pure everyday life—but not the light, sanitized kind. They’re the real deal: living archives of work, survival, and joy. He paints what he lives in Bogotá, Santurce, Santander—the places he walks, the places that leave their mark on him, places pulsing with popular history and struggle. These aren’t nostalgic, but rather coordinates on the emotional, political, and urban map he builds through his work. His canvases insist on the richness of the informal, the popular. Within them, pop culture and popular life collide—traditional technique meets graffiti—in a celebration of the forces that shape our cultural landscape. No purism, no elitism. In his work, a shop sign, a salsa lyric, or a reggaetón verse carries as much weight as a philosophical maxim.
