About this collection
Baussan's presentation brought together two distinct but deeply connected threads: her latest paintings and—for the first time—a new series of ceramic sculptures. Created after her time in Paris, these works reflect a layered exploration of memory, materiality, and ritual—a continuation of her practice, and also a bold step into new terrain. Inspired by family archives and personal photographs, Baussan’s new works delve into the intimate stories and memories passed down through generations. This personal connection to her family history is embedded in each piece, with both the paintings and ceramics serving as a reflection on the moments, places, and figures that shaped her artistic vision. We were thrilled to see visitors engage so deeply with the work. The ceramics, in particular, sparked numerous conversations about the nature of the pieces and the stories embedded in the materials. Many took the time to explore the rich textures and forms that Sofia so carefully crafted during her residency. We want to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who visited our booth at Future Fair, supported us from afar, or simply took a moment to engage with Sofia’s work. Your presence, conversations, and encouragement truly meant the world to us. We felt incredibly connected to those who shared in the experience and were so moved by the enthusiasm for Sofia’s direction. This fair marked a meaningful moment—not only for Sofia, as she shared a new chapter of her evolving practice—but also for us at Catalysta, as we continue to support Latin American artists as they grow and explore different paths. We’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a vibrant and supportive community. Thank you for seeing us, for showing up, and for being part of this moment.
