Kmilo Morales (Kmilo)

Born in Holguín, Cuba (1990). He studied Plastic Arts at the Professional Academy of Las Tunas, Cuba. He began his career as an artist in 2008, with different collective and individual exhibitions. In 2015, he held an individual exhibition called Lugar, tiempo y espacio at the Casa de la Cultura de Plaza and in 2016 he was part of a group exhibition called Arigato, at the Galería Taller Gorría, both in the Cuban capital. Kmilo creates contemplation spaces that are brought to life through the abundance of material and the determination of the gesture. His work is linked to the inner world, where meditation makes the intangible the basis to configure what is palpable. Morales drenches his canvases with thick layers of paint that he removes and manipulates in an almost performing act that seeks to commemorate the present and pay tribute to mankind's historic determination to project its trace into infinity.
