We’re excited to announce that we will participate in SCOPE Miami Beach 2022, an annual contemporary art fair that exhibits emerging international art and multidisciplinary creative programming. As a young, primarily digital exhibition space, we are eager about this opportunity to showcase our art in person along with 111 other galleries. In our booth, you’ll find works by artists Alexa Torre and Mau Samayoa.
Torre is a Mexican visual artist and photographer whose most recent conceptual series focus on women as physical and symbolic protagonists. Her photographs use irony and humor to question cultural and gender stereotypes and the feminine as it is understood in the collective imaginary. The rich investigation of color apparent in her work considers the relationship between this property and how we learn to categorize objects and otherize individuals. Her work has been exhibited internationally and featured in magazines such as _National Geographic, Huffington Post, and A.R.T.S.Y Magazine._
Samayoa is a Salvadoran artist who works primarily with paper. He uses surgical-like techniques applied in art restoration to generate patterns and textures on a piece of paper. As he describes in an interview with Oddball Space, it is “an endless performance of obsessive repetition.” The result is an abstract, monochrome structure in which light and shadow closely interact. His series Memory Bundles, which you can find on Catalysta among others of his works, explores the experience of migration through themes of memory, identity, and the material object.
Samayoa’s work has been exhibited in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Birmingham, United Kingdom, where he currently lives and runs the Flat8 Gallery project. An apartment-based exhibition space that bypasses the traditional gallery system, allowing for a more intimate encounter with the artwork and the artist.
You can browse Torre’s and Samayoa’s work in our booth (C27) at SCOPE Miami Beach 2022 from November 29th to December 4th. Plan your visit ahead of time and buy your tickets now!
We look forward to seeing you there!
