Ana Sofia Batlle holds degrees from The New School for Design and The Art Institute of Chicago. Her background in exhibitions spans from her native country the Dominican Republic to Mexico City and Chicago. She also completed residencies in the United States and Greece.
Her primary medium is oil painting, Batlle compares this technique to the way we express ourselves with our clothing as she layers colors and textures to create depth in her work of art. "A reflection of my fascination with the human body and its relationship with nature," is how she describes her artwork, available now at Catalysta. The main element of Ana's artwork is her use of patterns, which she uses to blur the lines between painting figures and landscapes.

She encourages viewers to contemplate how patterns and repetition can be used to express the unique beauty of the human form with her oil paintings. Batlle believes that our living environments have an enormous effect on how we perceive the world, as we have an unbreakable connection to the landscapes we occupy. She creates a playful, intuitive, and repetitious style that explores perception and the concept of beauty, especially as it is portrayed within the human body, with the use of shapes, lines, and colors.
Her work invites us to observe the world in new and fascinating ways.
